💈STREET BARBER SHAVE: Your Beard is HARD -- You Pay Double! 🇹🇭 Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand
Jan 31, 2020
Ubon Ratchathani, THAILAND.
Mr. Sing lost his leg & doesn't have a proper barbershop. That doesn't stop him working EVERYDAY as a barber on the sidewalk. He continues the street barber tradition, in the exact same spot where his uncle used to cut hair before he passed away six years ago.
I asked how much the shave costs. Mr Sing said it is normally 20 Thai Baht for Thai people ($.64 USD), but it should be 40 Baht ($1.29 USD) for me. I accept that I grow a lot of facial hair, compared to the locals.
Street barber, Mr. Sing, 58 years old, lost his leg in a motorcycle accident 25 years ago. He says he also works as a part-time gardener, and also drives motorbike to and from his side-walk barbering location beside the Buddhist temple.
Before his barber uncle passed away, he would simply set up a wooden barber chair under a tree by the local Buddhist temple. Back then there were multiple street barbers on this downtown street, and he was just one of them.
Mr. Sing continues the tradition of offering the cheapest haircut in the city downtown. These days he is the last of the Ubon Ratchathani street barbers.
The city values his hard work, and so they set up a small roof that he can use for shelter from the sun and the rain. Each morning he props up the roof by himself, and closes it down at 5pm when he leaves to go home.
He can speak a little bit of English.
Some people will find pleasure from the ASMR street barber shave in this video.
