TRADITIONAL JAKARTA STREET FOOD in Pasar Baru: Kerak Telor Khas Betawi
Dec 8, 2019
Jakarta Indonesia
I discovered a little street stall making the very traditional dish called 'Kerak Telor Khas Betawi" in Pasar Baru, the oldest market in Jakarta. This is a unique street food dish to find, and so I made a video to document it.
This dish is like a pancake, but because of the duck egg used, has a strong egg flavor. Shredded and cooked coconut and other flavors are added. It is then served up to eat either rolled, or in slices like a pizza.
The chef proudly showed how his food and story was written up in the local Jakarta newspaper.
I love to travel Jakarta for the amazing selection of food available, and the friendly people.
Cost: 20,000 Indonesian Rupiah ($1.43 USD)
